Samantha Brick has hit upon a nice little earner

IT STANDS OUT A MILE. Ms Brick, a journalist writing for the Daily Mail hit upon an idea to give herself temporary celebrity, and earn a bit of spare cash on the side. In her article in the Daily Mail,   she makes highly entertaining references to her looks, in order to bait her gender into slagging her off on various social network sites; and then being ‘hurt’ by some of the more outrageous comments, goes on ITV’s This Morning to launch her counter attack.
In the meanwhile comments have been picked up by other papers and given the kind of publicity that George Galloway would willingly forgo his 21 (?) virgins for, when he becomes a Muslim.
Samantha is either a savvy or very stupid lady; I would like to believe the former, because the latter would make her out to be a fool and an idiot for not realising what the response would be to such over the top narcissism on her part among the users of the modern media – especially as she works within it.
No, the cynic in me will go along with her well calculated attempt at celebrity which would make her newsworthy, and a possible contestant in a reality TV show at the very least; or, hopefully, be awarded her own show; and those who had taken umbrage with her vain self-absorption will have helped her career no end. Which, no doubt, will add to her satisfaction when she reads through the nastier comments sent her from, in the main, her sisterhood.
I never read her original piece, but from the response and the snippets I saw on Sky News, I realised that this lady was indeed out to advance her career. The modern media is ripe for such exaggerated and overstated behaviour. The more bizarre a person behaves; the more attention they garner for themselves.
There are so many channels competing with each other for a cut of the viewing figures, that the ‘ordinary’ no longer has any pull in the world of television. The soaps, for instance, are conjuring up ever more unbelievable story lines. There have been so many murders on a well known street in one soap,  that Strangeways prison now has a Corrie wing attached- as for the village of Emmerdale, ditto. Coupled with politically correct scenarios, the soaps are as surreal as Ms Samantha Brick’s behaviour.

THIS LADY, in the second phase of her plan, has, as I said above, willingly accepted an appearance on the This Morning show to further advance her plan for celebrity-hood.  What better to mastermind her fight back against what have by now become her persecutors . Victimhood is a vital component of publicity; especially on a day-time TV channel.
Samantha Brick will now find herself in popular demand for few days or weeks and must use this time well, if she wishes to move from the printed page to the small screen.  If she wakes up tomorrow with her name nowhere to be seen, then she will have failed – unless, that is she manages to manufacture further prime corn to feed the media with?
This lady is a symbol of our times. What I believe she has done and continues to do is to self-promote herself. She no doubt talked the Daily Mail into letting her write the original article; the nature of which that august paper knew would cause the controversy they and she suspected it would.
In the modern world, self-promotion is a form of pushing yourself forward, which is deemed necessary if one is to realise his or her ambition: and what better start can you make as a women than to tease the sisterhood where vanity is the crown of thorns.
I say this: good luck with your ambitions Ms Brick. You are only following the same route to success as many others would have chosen if they had had your profile as a Daily Mail journalist. This paper may, just may, prove to have been a stepping stone on your path to greater reward.
Samantha Brick’s original  article has been read in the Daily Mail by 1.5 million people, plus a further million or so who read the internet edition. Which has done a great service to the Daily Mail.
But I must say this Samantha. I realise that you are indeed pretty, which is what much of female humanity cannot boast, but you are not the  Venus de Milo  that you seem to compare yourself with. Which leaves me cynical as to your true intensions, some of which I have attempted to describe above. I believe you have a more, shall we say, a down to earth perception of your looks  hidden away than you were prepared to admit to.
Samantha Brick is just another wannabe who hopes to hoax her way to celebrity. She has done so by creating controversy and as such hopes to spring board her career. Unless that is, she is a deliberate plant by the Daily Mail to create the added circulation?
